The Dorothy Molter Museum is seeking volunteers interested in history, education, theater, museum studies, or any related subject to be a part of our interpretive planning process.
The museum received a large grant from the Minnesota Historical Society to create a long-term plan for historical interpretation. A committee is needed to work with the consulting firm creating the plan. A time commitment of 2 full day and 4 half day workshops would be required. The first workshop will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18th, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at VCC CL 104.
The plan will:
· Ensure all interpretive efforts align with the DMM mission
· Articulate core messages, or themes, for the museum that are linked to the site’s significance
· Analyze visitor demographics and trends and link interpretive recommendations to this analysis
· Identify regional partners for interpretive purposes and foster relationships with these partners through the planning process
· Recommend staff and volunteer interpretive training opportunities
· Establish a framework for implementation over a 10-year period and a process for ongoing planning into the future
